If you have a text box in Microsoft Publisher, and the text is hyphenating regardless of whether it is left aligned or justified, then this next tip is for you.
By going into Tools | Options, you can deselect the option for "Automatically hyphenate in new text boxes". As the name suggests, this only applies to new text boxes, so you'll need to recreate any that have this problem.
After you've made this change, then the justified option will work as you expect (just like Word does).
